Make your tees last. Practical washing, drying and stain steps for 100% cotton tees. For the quick checklist, see our Care Guide.
Every current LUCSUM tee is 100% cotton jersey (see each product page for its GSM), including Raglan Baseball, Celestial Graphic, Contrast Panel, Shoulder Logo and Branded Tape. Cotton rewards good habits. Whether you live in our Essentials collection or rotate through Graphic Tees, a few consistent care habits will keep your pieces looking sharp wash after wash.
Wash less, air more
Cotton does not need to hit the machine after every single wear. If a tee smells fresh and looks clean, hang it to air overnight — especially for oversized fits that breathe well away from the body. Fewer washes mean less fibre stress, less fading on prints, and a longer life for taped seams and contrast panels.
When it is time to wash, turn graphic tees inside out to protect prints. Close zippers and empty pockets on anything going in the same load to avoid snagging.
Follow the fundamentals
Cold or lukewarm water is your friend. Hot water can shrink cotton and accelerate colour loss — particularly on contrast panel and raglan colourways. Use a mild detergent without harsh bleaches, and skip fabric softener if you want to preserve the natural hand-feel of premium cotton.
Our full Care Guide page covers garment-specific notes, but the rule of thumb for every LUCSUM tee is gentle cycle, cold wash, and low heat or air dry. Treat branded tape and printed graphics with the same care you would give any detail you want to last.
Drying: low heat or line dry
High heat is the fastest way to shrink an oversized tee and warp its proportions. If you use a tumble dryer, choose the lowest heat setting and remove the garment while it is still slightly damp. Reshape the shoulders and lay flat or hang to finish drying.
Line drying is ideal for maintaining the relaxed silhouette that defines LUCSUM fit. Oversized pieces benefit from gravity pulling the hem straight — just avoid prolonged direct sunlight on dark colours, which can fade over time.
Storage that preserves shape
Fold heavyweight cotton tees rather than hanging them long-term. Hangers can stretch the shoulder line on oversized garments, especially when the fabric is wet or damp. Store in a cool, dry place with space to breathe — not compressed under heavier items that can crease branded tape or contrast panels.
If you are rotating through multiple pieces from our T-Shirts collection, give each tee room in the drawer. Essentials like the Branded Tape tee and Contrast Panel tee are designed for frequent wear — storing them properly means they are ready when you are.
Handle stains quickly
Address spills as soon as you can. Blot — do not rub — and use cold water on the spot before it sets. For oil or food stains, a gentle pre-treat before a cold wash usually does the job. Avoid aggressive scrubbing on printed areas; pat the stain from the back of the fabric when possible.
Care is part of the brand experience
LUCSUM is built on the idea that better everyday clothing should last. Taking care of your tees is not extra work — it is how you protect the fit, colour, and feel that made you choose them in the first place. Pair these habits with our Size & Fit guidance so your pieces continue to drape the way they did on day one.
